WILL MORRIS M.S.ED
FOUNDER & CEO
Will Morris is the Founder and CEO of EdConnective. Will received his Masters of Education from the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education. There he researched instructional coaching as a promising lever of teacher quality. Before UPenn, Will spent a year working with a cohort of 30 African American freshmen as an Urban Prep Fellow in a Chicago Charter School. During his year in Chicago, Will became a Starting Bloc Social Innovation Fellow and participated in a social entrepreneurship institute that sparked his desire to create systemic impact through social innovation. Before Chicago, Will obtained his bachelors from the College of William and Mary where he realized the education system was the variable he would leverage to impact the life outcomes of historically marginalized populations.
instructional coaching team
EdConnective has over 25 highly qualified instructional coaches that hail from public and charter schools from across the nation. All of our instructional coaches go through a rigorous vetting process in which they are first screened for their experience in education and dexterity with various pedagogical frameworks. Then, we have candidates watch videos of instruction and coach the EdConnective team as if they were conducting a real coaching experience, for the next phase of the vetting process. We select coaches who have an exceptional ability to collect objective data during observations. Furthermore, we select coaches on their ability to provide bite-sized, actionable feedback. Less than 4% of applicants have become EdConnective coaches. Our team is positioned to achieve high-impact in nearly any classroom across the nation.
EVERY STUDENT DESERVES A GREAT TEACHER AND EVERY TEACHER DESERVES A GREAT COACH
Highly effective teachers accelerate student achievement. As such, teacher quality is suggested to be the most important school level variable between minority and majority children that explains the achievement gap. Increasing teacher quality increases student achievement but most professional development is not robust enough for significant improvement to occur. Vague feedback, yearly evaluations, group workshops, and college courses are the status quo. Meanwhile, certain models of instructional coaching: individualized observation and feedback over the course of consecutive weeks, is one of the few promising supports out of thousands that is positioned to generate significant results.
EdConnective was created to increase access to a highly impactful form of teacher support. Teaching is an incredibly challenging craft to master and one-on-one coaching is the most promising and supportive way to improve efficacy. Also, EdConnective's a la carte and remote model of coaching delivery makes coaching extraordinarily accessible and affordable. We strongly believe that a research based investment in teacher quality yields long lasting impact for both teachers and students whose life outcomes are directly correlated with increases in achievement.
