AFTER DETERMINING THE HIGHEST IMPACT GROWTH AREA FOR EACH TEACHER, WE HELP TEACHERS MOVE FROM GOOD TO GREAT, GREAT TO OUTSTANDING
how it works
Game tape shared with our instructional coaches
Personalized feedback given via video calls
Teaching practice & student outcomes grow
After being matched to an instructional coach, participating teachers record a clip of their classroom instruction. The teachers share the recorded instruction with their coach who observes the video and provides tailored feedback via skype. This recording, upload, and feedback process repeats twice a week, for 4-6 consecutive weeks. This dosage facilitates robust growth as teachers receive enough direct feedback to implement new strategies with fidelity. Teachers can use their smart phones to record instruction or we can provide a recording device for them.
Personal Trainers for Classroom Instruction
We have more than 20 highly qualified coaches that hail from public and charter schools from across the nation. All of our instructional coaches go through a vetting process in which they watch videos of instruction and coach the EdConnective team as if they were conducting a real coaching experience. We select coaches who have an exceptional ability to collect objective data during observations. Furthermore, we select coaches on their ability to provide bite-sized, actionable feedback.
Next generation professional development

The EdConnective Way:

11 observations and 12 feedback sessions over 6 consecutive weeks
Growth of teacher practice goals and student outcomes explicitly measured and illuminated
Coach trained on effective coaching methodologies in the areas of: empirical observation, actionable feedback, and intentional rapport building
Recorded instruction used as a tool for teacher and coach to pinpoint precise glows and grows
What Teachers Are Saying
"EdConnective added immense value to my teaching practice and ultimately to my students. While watching yourself on video can seem daunting at first, it has allowed me and my EdConnective coach to reflect on areas where I am doing well in the classroom and where I can improve. Many times in education, it might feel like people are always telling you to simply 'work harder' or that 'you're teaching this wrong.' The best part is feedback at EdConnective is not judgmental or vague, rather it is an accurate statement of facts of what occurred in the video of my classroom with actionable steps and advice on how to improve. My coach is a brilliant educator with over 11 years of experience in education. Her advice truly changed my teaching for the better, which of course means my students are improving and learning more as well. And that is what education is all about."
"Beginning teachers often spend more time planning and perfecting a lesson than we do reflecting on our execution of them. With the help of my instructional coach I was able to balance the two to become a more effective teacher in the classroom. Once I began to implement my coach's feedback, I saw an improvement in students academically and behaviorally. Seeing the results of my coach's feedback was powerful. It made teaching even more rewarding than it already is.
Instructional coaching model
DATA DRIVEN OBSERVATIONS & ACTIONABLE FEEDBACK
EdConnective takes each teacher through a dynamic coaching process grounded in best practices from the highest performing school networks across the nation. Our coaches carry out objective observations that illuminate what students are doing at various moments of instruction. Numbers and percentages of student outcomes and teacher practices are recorded during the observations that provide a data-driven baseline for coaching to begin. Next, coaches provide bite-sized pedagogies that teachers practice and implement during each week of the coaching process. Lastly, the extent to which student outcomes and teacher practice grows each week is measured to highlight tangible results.
