Workshop: Inspiring Positive Classroom Culture Through an Equity Lens

February 24, 2021 | 12:30pm EST, 9:30am PST | Duration: 3 hours | $250 per seat

A positive classroom culture (even when virtual) means ALL students feel valued and part of a loving community of learners. Teachers play a critical role in making students feel a part of the community, but it can be overwhelming. Participants will be guided through interactive discussion and best practice, coming away with practical strategies for building positive classroom culture that encourages a positive culture for all students.

Led by expert instructional coaches Marisa Nomi (M.Ed) and Meghan Ferrara, who holds a Masters of Elementary Education, this 3-hour session will transition regularly between topical exploration in bite size chunks and peer group interaction, maximizing retention and relevance so learning can be applied in the virtual or in-person classroom.

3 Primary Topic Areas Will be explored during the event:

Topic 1: Establishing Norms and Routines

Topic 2: Building Relationships with Students and Families

Workshop: Welcoming Students Back to the Classroom

Workshop: Welcoming Students Back to the Classroom

March 24, 2021 | 12:30pm EST, 9:30am PST | Duration: 3 hours | $250 per seat

Teachers have innovated and persevered over the past year to make learning as impactful as possible given their unique circumstance. As schools prioritize more in-person learning, teachers again face challenges ranging from developing personal relationship building with students, to fostering safe interaction between students and re-establishing norms and routines for the classroom or hybrid setting. In many ways it parallels the beginning of a school year, but for many doesn’t carry the same excitement and outlook of a new school year after a refreshing summer! What innovations should be kept in the classroom, and how do we ensure ALL students feel part of the classroom community as they move back to the classroom.

Led by expert EdConnective Instructional Coaches Dr. Natasha Ward and Marisa Nomi (M.Ed), this 3-hour session will transition regularly between topical exploration in bite size chunks and peer group interaction, maximizing retention and relevance so learning can be applied in the virtual or in-person classroom.

3 Primary Topic Areas Will be explored during the event:

Topic 1: Re-establishing norms and expectations

Topic 2: Building and rebuilding positive relationships (both teacher<>student and student<>student)

Topic 3: Maintaining an asset oriented mindset

Audience: Teachers will see direct benefit and will be able to apply what they learn immediately. Those with direct observation of and contact with students will also see some benefit, such as assistant principals or principals.

Date: March 24, 2021

Time: 12:30pm EST, 9:30am PST

Duration: 3 Hours
